Good evening! I’m Sarah Wofford and I’m a writer living the American South. I’m friends with plenty of rednecks (including some WellRED ones) but the jury is still out on whether the moniker applies to me. But being southern I cannot deny.
I also need to state this up front: I am autistic. I have all the autism.
You may think “Oh, but you’re so well spoken in your writing, you can’t possibly be autistic!” First: that’s ableist. So just shut that nonsense up right off the bat. Second: writing is a much easier form of communication for me. I can take all the time I need to form thoughts and word them exactly how I want. Long pauses aren’t generally accepted well in in-person conversation. I would know. Talking to me is like clicking links on Wikipedia except instead of eventually landing on that one guy I just always end up talking about Mount Everest or the wreck of the Titanic. I even managed to do that writing this introductory post so there really is no help for me. I’ve come to terms with it. Mostly. Ish.
Some of these posts will be standard blog post affairs. Just life stuff. I will make a modicum of effort to make in interesting but I can’t promise anything. I work in a university library as my day job, I’m an online bookkeeper as my second job, and I write fiction and poetry because there is something deep inside me that I must write away so it doesn’t just eat me up inside. So expect some poems. Expect some fiction. Occasionally it might even be good.
